How the pick works

There is no editor and no payment. Every repository on the main list takes a turn in a fixed order, one each day, so nobody can buy or lobby for a slot. 70 repositories are in the rotation.

To be in it, a repository must not be archived, must have been pushed to in the twelve months before we read it, must be more than a year old and must have at least fifty stars. The figures shown were read from GitHub on 5 Oct 2026.

A pick is not a recommendation and not a review of the code or its author. Stars measure attention, not quality or safety. Where a repository publishes an image of what it does under a licence that allows copying, that image is shown, with its attribution on the repository's page. Having one says nothing about the code. Every other picture is drawn by this site from the repository's name: decoration, not price data. How images are chosen.
