Disclosures: money, independence and licence
Risk warning: CFDs and spread bets are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You can lose money on these products, and each provider publishes its own loss figure under FCA rules. You should consider whether you understand how they work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Automated and API trading can amplify losses through bugs, connectivity failures and runaway orders.
Educational only
This site exists to teach: how broker APIs work, how to write code that uses them safely, and what each broker's own pages say about its API. It does not recommend any broker, product or trade, it does not tell you what to buy or sell, and nothing on it is an invitation to open an account or to trade.
Example trading rules in the lessons are there to teach programming. They are illustrations run on invented prices, not strategies.
Affiliate links
This site is not affiliated with any broker or trading platform, and takes no payment from any of them. No link to a broker or platform on any page earns the publisher money.
Links to other tools, such as market data vendors and code libraries, are ordinary unpaid links.
Under section 21 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, a person must not, in the course of business, communicate an invitation or inducement to engage in investment activity unless they are authorised, an authorised person approves the content, or an exemption applies. It catches communications capable of having an effect in the UK even when made from overseas. The Financial Conduct Authority's finalised guidance FG24/1 sets this out. Staying educational, with no affiliate links and no calls to open an account, is how this site keeps clear of that line. This is a description of our position, not legal advice.
What broker partner programmes publish about themselves is recorded on the programme register as a matter of fact, not as an offer.
Independence
This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or run by any broker or platform it covers. Broker names are used factually. No broker logos or trade dress are used, and no page is designed to be mistaken for a broker's own.
No broker has paid to be listed, to be described in a particular way, or to appear in a particular position. Lists are ordered by name or by a stated, documented field. There is no editorial ranking of brokers.
Credentials
No field on this site asks for an API key, a username or a password. Code samples read credentials from environment variables on your own machine. Examples use demo environments and mock data.
Licence
The registers, meaning the fact register, the limits register, the partner programme register and the comparison data, are licensed CC BY 4.0. You may reuse them, including commercially, with attribution. Cite as: Broker API Hub, openbrokerapi.com, with the name of the register and the date you read it. Downloads are on the data page.
The guides, quickstarts, lessons, error explanations and all other writing are all rights reserved.
