Broker API changes, week 38 2026
7 dated changes from 14 Sep 2026 to 20 Sep 2026, grouped by broker or platform. Each one links the page it was read on.
Risk warning: CFDs and spread bets are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You can lose money on these products, and each provider publishes its own loss figure under FCA rules. You should consider whether you understand how they work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Automated and API trading can amplify losses through bugs, connectivity failures and runaway orders.
A change is filed under the week that holds its own date, as its source gives it. That is not always the week this site read it. The checked date beside each source is the day that page was last opened.
Capital.com
Change
The MCP server plugin enabled on 8 Jun 2026 lets trades be placed from inside an AI assistant, subject to a mandatory two-step preview and confirmation sequence. The release states that Capital.com is not legally liable for the MCP described nor for the behaviour of the LLMs. Execution authority on this site: draft then human confirms.

cTrader Open API
Change
cTrader AI Agent Connect, launched 14 May 2026, is two official MCP servers plus a skills library. An agent can execute trades, analyse accounts and control charts. Remote MCP serves the web platform and Local MCP the desktop. The server defaults to demo accounts and requires user confirmation before an order action. Execution authority on this site: agent executes.

eToro
Change
Two separate routes, now both sourced to eToro's own pages. Agent Portfolios, launched 26 Mar 2026, give an agent a scoped API key for a dedicated sub-portfolio funded from 200 US dollars, with OpenClaw and Claude Code supported and ChatGPT and claude.ai not; the page disclaims all liability for loss relating to CFD transactions. The Builders portal MCP server is read only, exposing get-all-routes and get-route-spec. Execution authority: agent executes for Agent Portfolios, read only for the Builders server.

Interactive Brokers
Change
Agentic trading with Claude was announced on 1 Jun 2026 with a human in the middle: AI instructions land in an AI Instructions tab on the Orders and Trades page for client approval, with ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok in certification. On 28 Jul 2026 IBKR opened AI connectivity to any MCP-compatible tool, still draft only, with the client reviewing each instruction and converting it to an order before submission and clients controlling what the AI can access. Execution authority on this site: draft then human confirms.
Change
IBKR's Web API documentation states it is "merging our web-based API products into a single, comprehensive IBKR Web API", folding in Client Portal Web API, Digital Account Management and the Flex Web Service under OAuth 2.0. OAuth 2.0 is marked beta; OAuth 1.0a is first-party and trading only. TWS API stays separate. Access is self-serve: "Clients with fully open and funded accounts may use our Web API ... without any onboarding or approval process", on a funded IBKR Pro account.
Breaking
TWS 2026 release notes (page updated 14 Sep 2026): 10.47 removed fundamental data methods and callbacks; 10.50 adds conditionsIncludeOvernight to Order. Per version dates are not given.
