IBKR's Web API pacing page and its Campus Web API documentation both now state a penalty box of 10 minutes for an IP address that breaks a rate limit. This site previously recorded 15 minutes, and that the two pages disagreed.
TWS API pacing is stated as market data lines divided by two per second, not a flat 50 per second. The familiar 50 is what the formula returns at the default line count.
Two corrections from today's re-read. The penalty box is recorded as 15 minutes, the figure the Client Portal Web API page served today, with repeated breaches able to bring a permanent block; IBKR's own pages have disagreed on this and the earlier 10 minute reading stays on the record. And TWS pacing is not a flat 50 a second: it is market data lines divided by two, per second, so 200 lines gives 100 a second.

Agentic trading with Claude was announced on 1 Jun 2026 with a human in the middle: AI instructions land in an AI Instructions tab on the Orders and Trades page for client approval, with ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok in certification. On 28 Jul 2026 IBKR opened AI connectivity to any MCP-compatible tool, still draft only, with the client reviewing each instruction and converting it to an order before submission and clients controlling what the AI can access. Execution authority on this site: draft then human confirms. Source: IBKR media release, 28 Jul 2026, https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/general/about/mediaRelations/7-28-26.php

IBKR's Web API documentation states it is "merging our web-based API products into a single, comprehensive IBKR Web API", folding in Client Portal Web API, Digital Account Management and the Flex Web Service under OAuth 2.0. OAuth 2.0 is marked beta; OAuth 1.0a is first-party and trading only. TWS API stays separate. Access is self-serve: "Clients with fully open and funded accounts may use our Web API ... without any onboarding or approval process", on a funded IBKR Pro account.
Pacing for GET /iserver/marketdata/history was capped at 10 requests a second or 50 a minute.
IBC, the community tool many people use to automate TWS and IB Gateway logins, was retired and archived by its owner on 1 Sep 2026. Only work in progress and significant bug fixes will follow. It is not an IBKR product, but headless setups that depend on it should plan a replacement.
