Broker API changes, week 36 2026
5 dated changes from 31 Aug 2026 to 6 Sep 2026, grouped by broker or platform. Each one links the page it was read on.
Risk warning: CFDs and spread bets are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You can lose money on these products, and each provider publishes its own loss figure under FCA rules. You should consider whether you understand how they work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Automated and API trading can amplify losses through bugs, connectivity failures and runaway orders.
A change is filed under the week that holds its own date, as its source gives it. That is not always the week this site read it. The checked date beside each source is the day that page was last opened.
IG
Ecosystem
trading-ig merged a fix on 2 Sep 2026 that replaces the node navigation calls with fetch_categories and fetch_category_instruments, saying IG appear to have removed the Node ID concept from their public API. This is the community follow up to the /marketnavigation removal reported in February. Community sourced: IG publishes no changelog that records either step.

Interactive Brokers
Ecosystem
IBC, the community tool many people use to automate TWS and IB Gateway logins, was retired and archived by its owner on 1 Sep 2026. Only work in progress and significant bug fixes will follow. It is not an IBKR product, but headless setups that depend on it should plan a replacement.

MetaTrader 5 (Python package and MQL5)
Addition
MetaTrader5 Python package 5.0.6180 on PyPI, Windows x86-64 builds for Python 3.6 to 3.14, so a Linux host still needs a bridge. It follows 5.0.6162 (3 Sep), 5.0.6147 (27 Aug), 5.0.6090 (1 Aug) and 5.0.6070 (28 Jul).
MetaTrader5 on PyPIchecked
Addition
Build 6180, 3 Sep 2026, is the current MetaTrader 5 build. It gave the AI Assistant Strategy Tester powers: retrieving tester reports, launching optimisations, and reading tester and expert advisor logs. The 6180 page does not itself use the word MCP, and the MQL5 language reference still carries no MCP section, so MCP remains a terminal feature rather than a language feature.

Saxo OpenAPI
Breaking
Breaking, and the deadline has passed: root/v1/user was removed and replaced by root/v2/user. An integration still on v1 is broken now, not later.
Saxo planned changeschecked
Affected pages: the Saxo OpenAPI record, everything recorded for it as one file and its own RSS feed.
