MQL4 SymbolInfoDouble()
Returns one floating point property of a symbol, chosen by an identifier.
Risk warning: CFDs and spread bets are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You can lose money on these products, and each provider publishes its own loss figure under FCA rules. You should consider whether you understand how they work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Automated and API trading can amplify losses through bugs, connectivity failures and runaway orders.
This is an MQL4 function, not an HTTP endpoint. It has no method, no path and no address to send a request to: it runs inside the MetaTrader 4 terminal, in a program written in MQL4.
For the latest prices the page recommends SymbolInfoTick() instead: it says that until a first quote has arrived after the terminal connects, a price read this way has no settled value.
Signature
The 2 forms of the call on the vendor's page, with the vendor's comments taken out.
double SymbolInfoDouble( string name, ENUM_SYMBOL_INFO_DOUBLE prop_id )
bool SymbolInfoDouble( string name, ENUM_SYMBOL_INFO_DOUBLE prop_id, double& double_var )
Arguments
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| namerequired | string | The symbol's name. |
| prop_idrequired | ENUM_SYMBOL_INFO_DOUBLE | Which property to return, as a value of the ENUM_SYMBOL_INFO_DOUBLE enumeration. |
| double_varrequired | double& | Only in the second form: the double variable that receives the value. |
Return value
- Type
- double, or bool in the second form
- What comes back
- The page gives two forms: one returns the value itself, the other returns true or false and writes the value into a variable passed by reference. The page points to GetLastError() for the reason.

It holds no credential and needs none: the program runs inside a terminal that is already logged in to an account. Nothing is entered on this site.
