Interactive Brokers API error code
Interactive Brokers API error: p12
What does p12 mean on the Interactive Brokers API?
p12 is an IBKR Web API order reply message id. Interactive Brokers lists it among the ids that can be suppressed. In the vendor's table this message says an order that is not immediately executable may be rejected if its limit price is too far from the reference price, and asks whether to use the Price Management Algo. A reply message is a notice to confirm before the order goes to work, not a rejection.
Risk warning: CFDs and spread bets are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You can lose money on these products, and each provider publishes its own loss figure under FCA rules. You should consider whether you understand how they work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Automated and API trading can amplify losses through bugs, connectivity failures and runaway orders.
How do I fix p12?
Confirm the reply at /iserver/reply/{id} to carry on with the order, or do not confirm it. The vendor's suppression endpoint accepts this message id and then accepts such messages automatically for the rest of the brokerage session.
