What does 503 on order reply mean on the Interactive Brokers API?

On the Web API, Interactive Brokers says an order reply must be confirmed straight after it is received and before any further order is sent. Sending other orders or requests first cancels or invalidates the order, and an attempt to confirm the reply then results in a 503, which the Place Order page describes as a timeout.

Risk warning: CFDs and spread bets are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You can lose money on these products, and each provider publishes its own loss figure under FCA rules. You should consider whether you understand how they work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Automated and API trading can amplify losses through bugs, connectivity failures and runaway orders.

How do I fix 503 on order reply?

Answer each reply message at /iserver/reply/{replyId} before sending anything else. The vendor suggests the suppression endpoint for users who do not want to receive reply messages.
