What does 101 (max tickers reached) mean on the Interactive Brokers API?
Listed by the vendor as "Max number of tickers has been reached". The number of active market data subscriptions in TWS and the API together has been exceeded. The vendor says the number is calculated from a formula based on the equity, commissions and quote booster packs in an account, and that active lines can be checked in TWS with Ctrl-Alt-=.
Risk warning: CFDs and spread bets are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You can lose money on these products, and each provider publishes its own loss figure under FCA rules. You should consider whether you understand how they work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Automated and API trading can amplify losses through bugs, connectivity failures and runaway orders.
How do I fix 101 (max tickers reached)?
Cancel market data subscriptions you no longer need so that the number of active lines falls within the account's allowance.
