# TradeLocker API error: 401 Unauthorized

## What does 401 Unauthorized mean on the TradeLocker API?

TradeLocker lists 401 with the description "Unauthorized" as a response of its /trade routes, including placing, modifying and cancelling orders. The reference gives the status no further description. The same routes are documented as secured with a Bearer token.
