# DXtrade API error: 3 Incorrect username or password

## What does 3 Incorrect username or password mean on the DXtrade API?

DXtrade errorCode 3, description "Incorrect username or password" (the vendor's wording). Authentication failed when creating a session token. The vendor uses code 3 with several descriptions: "Incorrect username or password", "Account has been locked due to multiple unsuccessful login attempts", "Account has been temporarily locked due to multiple unsuccessful login attempts" and, for SSO login, "Incorrect username, SSO token or SSO token doesn't correspond to username".

## How do I fix 3 Incorrect username or password?

Read the description returned with the code: it says whether the credentials did not match or the account is locked. The vendor's page gives no remedy for a locked account.
