Risk warning: CFDs and spread bets are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You can lose money on these products, and each provider publishes its own loss figure under FCA rules. You should consider whether you understand how they work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money. Automated and API trading can amplify losses through bugs, connectivity failures and runaway orders.

## Access, authentication and streaming

- How you get a key: Platform access for most clients. Tickmill's UK site offers MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, with Expert Advisors available. Its Connectivity and API page lists third party futures platforms such as CQG, Sierra Chart and MultiCharts, and documents no API of Tickmill's own. The one API Tickmill names is a FIX connection, which its FAQ says is offered to large private and institutional clients with an account balance of at least 500,000 and at least 5,000 a month in commission, in pounds, dollars or euros.

- Rate limits, as worded: No retail API. A FIX API is offered to large private and institutional clients (minimum balance 500,000, minimum monthly commission 5,000, no demo version), and the FAQ that describes it states no limit (re-read 12 Oct 2026). A page that states no limit is not evidence that there is none.
